Community Based Support and Care for Widows, Orphans and Vulnerable Children
Director of the Women’s Group: Rose Ombogo > I (Rev Stan Chu Ilo) spent three days in Kibera, Nairobi in June 2007. I spent time with the women for over 6hours. I listened to them and can simply say that these are amazing women. They do not want to claim that they are victims; they simply need some support to change their condition and that of their children and grand children.
This project fits into our vision at CSA which is to show Christian love to people in Africa who are facing some situations of poverty and suffering; to manifest our love through solidarity by identifying with and supporting locally initiated development projects, and collaborate with the local groups to realize their dreams of sustainable skills development, capacity building and empowerment. These we believe will give them the required freedom to realize their dreams of living abundant lives, and actualizing the heroes in them that is waiting to be born. Click on the link below to read about these great women, the challenges they face, and how they wish to meet these challenges.
As you read this interesting story of courage and vision, consider how you can help CSA to support these women and their children. Pity is not enough, compassion is a real and deep human feeling, sympathy and empathy are good, but solidarity is better, and collaboration is the best thing we can offer to Africans especially the women and children who want to work hard to realize a better future for themselves and their children:
